Indian Railways - TATKAL TICKET BOOKING ONLINE USING IRCTC WEBSITE

Complaint by: Satya on June 16, 2010, 10:02 pm in Indian Railways

It is to complain with deep pain that IRCTC Tatkal online (e-ticket) reservation process is of no use with session getting dropped or unavailable during initial hours of it\'s opening period.

Virtually every time you try to book in the morning at 8:00AM, the www.irctc.co.in login session will either drop almost instantaneously with errors such as \"service unavailable\", “failing to load” entire page and intermittent disconnection problems etc. Surprisingly access to all sites other than the www.irctc.co.in works okay during this initial period of Tatkal e-ticket reservation.

More to the surprise, suddenly after some time everything starts working fine, but only to know that all tickets have been waitlisted by that time. Since this is not one time or isolated incidents but is being faced daily by all the internet users who attempt to book online through IRCTC reservation website, I feel that there is some kind of nexus to prevent people from their rights of equality otherwise how come booking of the tickets across the Railway Reservation Counter Terminal and through Travel Agents is possible.
Are there any “priority levels” service assigned in the software developed for Computerized Train Ticket Reservation System?
It seems that IRCTC servers are not able to handle heavy load. It’s high time that Indian Railways should upgrade the servers as now almost all are using IRCTC to book tickets and it is one of the Indian site which gets maximum number of hits.
Is there a nexus between agents and IRCTC as it is learnt that these agents have some program to book Tatkal tickets which is scheduled to run during 8 to 8.15AM and it keeps running during this time until all their tickets are booked.

The authorities concerned are to treat this alarming situation / major inconvenience to public and take immediate remedial measures on “top priority” probing the reasons for the online ticket booking failures.

IRCTC for Tatkal booking is simply lousy nowadays. A lot of good effort has been put on improving the usability of the site and its features, which is very good. However, what use will it be if the passengers cannot use it for their booking. I completely support this compliant. This is 100% true.

Now a days common people are try to use the internet for booking the tatkal train tickets... its very bad that this site never open for booking the tatkal tickets... people will loose the interest of booking the tickets itself through irctc website if continues like this for more than a year..... Indian railway gov should check whats happening with the system which they have introduced... no one is happy with the system... this site is making common people fools for booking the tickets... very bad system... one more doubt.. is anyone checking the complaint?

The online reservation facility cannot be depended upon. Many times I had to reschedule my trip because of this.Only agents have access to this service between 08:00 hrs to 08:15 hrs. It's better if you can go to the railway station to do the booking. After all we are living in India, one of the most corrupt countries.

Completely Right Sathya, der's no point blaming the Agents who have been the Lifeline for the Common man for their Railway tickets. the Customers always used to come to the Agents for their travel ticket but now its a big blow to them as they will not be getting any tickets from the Agents. The decision is just promoting Touts & dalals to increase their Malpractices.

Sub kuch Railway officials ka karamat hai. Ev1 feels agents are blocking tickets. how can agent block ticket when it is e-ticket and name & age is printed on it? Do all agents predict these customers will come and take the tickets from them? if so then y cant they predict other things? This move is to allow Railway officials and their touts to earn more money thru tatkal. I personally went to Railway counter early in the morning at 4:00 AM and I found touts are sleeping infront of the door from last nite. When I enquire they were demanding 1000/- to give their place to me. Mamatha Jee, its not agents who are blocking the tickets. Its all your Railway employees and Touts. First You need to straighten them and then see.

Yeah sab to railway walo ki ek chal hai, ye log chahte hai ki hum sare agent log bhooke mar jaye. Media wale kuch bhi chapte hai aur hum jaise seedhe logo ko ab in railway walo ka natak sehna padega. Mein challenge karta hoon ki koi railway wale mere ghar aye aur tatkal ticket book kar ke dhikade 8 baje. Unhe kya pata hume kitni parishani hoti hai. Humere 50 ticket mai se 2 ticket hi tou book hote hai.

I see a lot of people support this move however i feel that the Railway need basically understand, that it’s not about the agents getting all the tickets, I have personally gone and sat with one agent 4 days in a row to book tatkal tickets to go to my native but did not get a ticket then I went to a tout outside the station and paid 3 times the amount to get the tickets so I think they should stop all these illegal touts instead of the agents or improve their systems.
