Complaint by: Sandeep on May 16, 2009, 4:25 pm in Banking and Finance

I was using a HSBC credit card issued to me on 30/06/2006.
I have used it till Apr\'07 without any issues. After that suddenly they started charging Rs 329 towards TATA AIG GEN.INSURANCE-MO (Mumbai) without my consent. I made numerous calls to HSBC credit Card and TATA AIG Insurance department about the issue but it continued for next 2 months. Then finally I made the payment of all my purchases done on the credit card on 27/06/2007 and conveyed the concerened credit card department to close my card as I am not going to pay the amount they have charged me for the insurance, which I have never applied for, and neither the Interest or Finance charges they have levied for non payment of insurance premium for the two months.

Now they have registered me with negative rating in CIBIL and marked my card status as written off. Following which my Home Loan application with IDBI is in Hold. And I am stuck as I am not able to proceed with the porperty I have selected to buy.

I had a similar problem with CIBIL. I got in touch with Credit Sudhaar( www.creditsudhaar.com ) It was an absolutely fantastic experience from the start, brilliant and friendly. I recommend Credit Sudhaar to anyone with credit issues.

I am very disappointed with HSBC Banks credit card for its nefarious dealing. It is well known fact HSBC bank has notorious record and I am convinced by this fact as I have experienced worst from it. I will never ever deal with HSBC bank in any form and would suggest people not to deal with HSBC. I have even appealed to Ministry of Finance, Government of India to cancel HSBC licenses to operate in India.

My experience in brief.

1)As a credit card holder of HSBC I was never a defaulter (no outstanding payment/ Dues from my side).

2) HSBC card without my consent attached insurance policy and forced me to pay for it. I have had never ever purchased any insurance policy affiliated with HSBC credit card.

3) A false outstanding statement, with accumulated interests was created and imposed on me.

4) A false case was registered with CIBIL against me which tainted my credit history record and I had faced many challenges while applying for loans.

5) When approached customer care I was told that they don’t have any record and that I need to contact recovery department.

6) Your recovery department threatened me, blackmailed me and used unparliamentary language against me.

What I want from HSBC

1) Unconditional written apology.
2) Restoration of my CIBIL credit history.
3) Compensation for which I got mental trauma from HSBC.
4) Detailed Acknowledgement to me for every transaction.

I support this complaint.I am also a victim of HSBC dealings. This is their style of functioning - First , it is very tough to contact them over their helplines and when any how u get them u do not get a proper solution, They try to put the customers in such a situation that customers do not have any option but to pay the interests and late fines for the payments which they were willing to pay in time.

Please allow me to introduce myself my name is Michael Mason-Mahon and I am a shareholder of HSBC Plc. I am based in London.
I was in Mumbai in September where I had a meeting with the CEO of HSBC to raise my concerns about the way HSBC was treating its customers.
I am going to ask the RBI TO DO A FULL INVESTIGATION into HSBC India.
For me to do this I need people that are willing to send their complaints to me and to allow me to forward their complaints, not only to the Board of Directors of HSBC Holdings Plc also to the Governor, Dr. D Subbarao and Shriv.K.Sharma, Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India to investigate HSBC India as evidence to support the way that (and this is my personal belief) the Bank has breached the Code of Banks Commitment to Customers.

Please help me to help you, if we join together we will be able to make a change in their behaviour (I do hope so).
I have also sent a letter to all Board Directors of HSBC Holdings Plc. This is part of my letter.
Reference HSBC India
I refer to the concerns that I raised at the AGM in May concerning the behaviour of HSBC in India. Following my representation of complainants against HSBC India I have found the behaviour by the Bank to be totally unacceptable. This is my personal belief.

I have found that the Bank has failed to comply with the RBI and the Banking Ombudsman Rules and Regulation in the handling of complaints. Also in all the complaints that I have personally handled there was no evidence that the Bank had informed the complainants of their right to take their complaint to the Banking Ombudsman which the Bank was obliged to do under the RBI rules and regulations.

So if you would like to contact me, please send me your complaint in full.

Kind regards
Michael

Hi, I am Sunil Tiwari From New Delhi (INDIA). Two years ago I got a credit card from HSBC bank with 1300 Limit and I have made a purchase of 11000 from card. After that I haven't received any bill from bank side up to 3 months from purchasing date so I have sent a mail to customer care to pay the amount when I get the reply from bank It was shocking the 11000 purchase goes to 19000+ after three+ months in spite of that I have requested for statement and call the customer care executive to collect the payment but I didn't got any response from bank. Now after three year bank executive has call me and told the due amount has been 58000 and your information has being shared with CIBIL. And the bank executive convincing me to pay 24000 only to settle the issue. When I agreed to pay 24000 then he asked me to pay within 3 days. I am unable to pay 24000 instantly so I have requested for EMI solution but he has denied for that and he is regularly calling me even midnight. Kindly suggest me what should I do ?

I support this complaint. HSBC bank should not be allowed to operate in India. I have also experienced that on call they say some thing and in reality they do not hesitate to trouble you even at the cost of losing their good customer. I had to pay Rs. 8000 plus to them but due to some unavoidable circumstances I missed the due date but later I paid the whole amount to them except for the late payment and finance charges, etc. I spoke to customer executive from HSBC and they said that they will revoke the fine but next month onwards I was additionally fined and got multiple threat calls from recovery agents. Later I got to know that they have put my name in CIBIL. This is UNACCEPTABLE. Government should interfere and prevent them from spoiling anyone's credit report BASED ON NON PAYMENT OF FINE COMPONENT ONLY.

Nw when i went for the Home loan I came to know that they hv givin my name in CIBIL.
I'm surprised when HSBC himself is not confident about my credit hw come my current credit card is working. ANd by their such action I have been in to lot of pressure as I have already paid mybuilder a partial amount...

It is really disgustting, irritating & pathetic for such an MNC bank...

Kindly advice what should I do next to get the loan.

This is very painful for me to become a HSBC customer, I got a credit card from HSBC credit card champagne scheme. At offer they said there is no annual charges, I never used this card for any transaction and there is no overdue amount to bank. Bank put some annual charges at the year end which they reversed also himself. I requested to bank to close my account as this card was not being used for me from a long time, There is no payment due from my side and everything is clear. After this HSBC put as a WRITTEN OFF satus in CIBIL report which looses my credit history this is very ridicules and don’t except this kind of behavior from a MNC bank.I am fed up now from HSBC and feeling very disgusting that I was a customer of HSBC and writing this to you now. HSBC will lose its credibility also in future from this kind of behavior
