I Joydip Roy Choudhury a resident of Kolkata, West Bengal is presently (26.08.2010) travelling in Train No: 6128 (GUV Chennai Express) from Tiruchirapali (TJP) to Chennai Egmore (MS) on Coach No: B1, Seat No: 49 (Ticket PNR No: 4420714338).
I understood from the Coach Attendant (a private company employee) that during day time travel passengers in 3 Tier AC Coaches are entitled to get only 1 pillow and 1 bed sheet. On contacting the TTE he initially said that passengers are entitled to get 1 pillow, 1 blanket and 2 bed sheets irrespective of the time of travel. He took almost an hour to get into an interaction with the coach attendant and after some discussion in their local language the TTE Mr. S. Rajamanickam narrated the same story as the coach attendant that passengers are entitled to 1 pillow and 1 bed sheet only although the other passengers who have boarded the train before Tiruchirapali (TJP) have been provided with 1 pillow, 1 blanket and 2 bed sheets.
I just wanted to know about the actual rule and where the same has been specified. Moreover, the sub-contractors (private service providing companies) should be directed by the railway employees since in this case it is seen that the sub-contractor is directing the railways employee.
Would anticipate a prompt response from you end and would also like to know about the actions taken by Indian Railways on this issue.
Thanking You,
Yours Sincerely,
Joydip Roy Choudhury
