Hi,

I own a credit card from HDFC and it got expired on May, 2012 to our old chennai address. I have relocated to Bangalore in Feb,2012. since the card was getting expired, I thought I'll close it off. And we did update our communication address for our savings account and through that login only we view all other loan n credit card accounts related to HDFC. But I was told credit card update is separate later. And, my new credit card was delivered to my old address. To my surprise, the card was delivered to someone else. Credit cards are supposed to be delivered to the credit card owners after checking their photo identity right? To my shock, i noticed that some 18k was swiped using my card which i was unaware of. I enquired in HDFC customer care and they said, it was delivered to my mother "PUSHPA THILAGAVATHI" . Also, my mother is no more. Moreover, My mother's maiden name would have been with my details which is normally verified when i call customer care itself. I'm not sure why even that wasn't cross verified and how could credit card be delivered to someone else?

I have blocked the card. But I have to go to chennai to file an FIR against this. And it's really embarrassing that i should travel for the bank's mistake to save my reputation here. Really wonder how could a service be so careless without safety to customers. Request action may be taken against this and help reversal of the charges also.
