I had registered with e-Mudhra on 21-Jun-09 through the Taxsmile portal facility for e-filing my personal income tax return for the financial year 09-10. I registered myself for the GOLD membership that allowed me to avail of a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) which can be used to e-file my IT returns with the Govt of India. I made all necessary payments through portal on the same date (Rs.442/-).

Subsequently, I was taken thru a physical verification process and a hardcopy documentation finally leading to approval of my application of DSC. I received emails from emudhra regarding the same on 4-Jul-09 providing internet links on downloading the DSC.

However, despite of my repeated attempts in doing so, I couldn\'t download the DSC. I emailed emudhra on 5-Jul-09 regarding my problem and waited for their response. Since I didnt get a response, I repeated my complaint again on 8-Jul-09. Neither of this evoked any response. Finally I could speak to a couple of customer care executives on 11-Jul-09 and emailed them my issue again on 11-Jul-09. I was promised an acceptable solution. However, since I didnt get to hear from them, I spoke to them on several occassion during the period 16-17-18 Jul-09, all using STD facility from home and office.

Now, they have responded saying that I need to download the DSC from a system that operates in Windows XP OS (I\'ve had already mentioned that I use an authorized version of MS Windows Vista 64 bit) since their facility is non-compatible with Vista. The same was not mentioned anywhere in their website and at the time of my making the payment.

I think, by now asking me to download the same from another PC is neither acceptable nor fair. Meanwhile, I\'ve lost time and money (the number of STD calls that I\'ve had made to just make them address my issue). Besides, the reason for choosing an online option for filing IT return has been convenience. The experience that I\'ve been meted out by Taxsmile India has not only caused severe inconvenience, but also subjected me to stress, now of missing the IT Return fling deadline.
