Complaint by: Deepak on March 27, 2011, 11:34 am in Indian Railways

This is to bring to the attention of the authorities the questionable behavior of RPF personal in Thirumayilai MRTS station of pulling up people who stand near the door (not Foot board) and registering cases against them. I happened to be traveling from Fort to Thiruvanmiyur and i was standing near the door(not the foot board) and not blocking the way either.I was not facing outside of the coach (to validate the point that i was not blocking) . An RPF constable picked me up and asked him to follow me, in spite of my protestation. At the RPF station i was told that i would be booked under section 156 of the Railways act. The sub-inspector mentioned that it was to create an awareness against foot board travel that i was being booked.(There were several people who had been similarly detained). I told him that i was not travelling in the footboard and asked him to define until what distance from the door, the southern railway considered it illegal to travel. He never could give me a proper answer. He seemed to be dwelling more on the point that it was to create awareness and was telling the pointlessness of arguing further. Since iam a regular traveller i have noticed the RPF personnal picking up people here needlessly.I have not seen this happening in any other station.
I would like Southern railway to clarify what can be defined as travel that can be booked under section 156 rather than allow it to the arbitrary discretion of the constable.I would like Southern Railways to look into this arbitrary booking of people in Thirumayilai station by the RPF.

Complainant's Goal: I want a clarification from Southern railway

The same thing happened to me and I started arguing with the constable. I spent 1 hour at the station and informed the inspector about this. He doesn't seem to care though! I was made to write a letter that I will come back to the station to settle this. Its sad that these guys are so senseless. They just want to catch some one..not necessarily the people who are actually travelling on the foot board.

Shrenik,
I emailed a complaint to the vigilence officer at Southern railway regarding Mandaveli station and from then on they are charging correctly at least for me. They have cleared the calendar that was covering the cost list and also stopped stamping seals right on the cost in ticket to hide it. Tell them u will complaint to vigilence and get their contract cancelled.

The parking contractor at Chintadripet railway station, Chennai is charging 6rs per day for 2 wheelers parking, even though the token / receipt provided is for 5 rs and validity is for 24hours.

What is the reason behind charging and cheating customers for a rupee per day?
