Complaint by: Balaji on October 9, 2009, 4:48 pm in Telemarketing

I had placed 2 orders with India Today Book Club:

1. Domestic Holiday Package including a) 12 Books, b) 3 CDs, c) Return Air Tickets with Taxes for 2 Adults and 1 child and d) Stay in any of the 5-Star Hotels in India with Breakfast and Dinner.

Complaint: I have received only the books and CDs. I have not received any further information about the Holiday Package which is what was marketed by the marketing people. The agent, Rajendra, had informed me that within three days of receiving the books, I will be contacted by ITBC for delivering the details of the Holiday package. But there is no such sign even after 3 weeks and he is not receiving my calls anymore.

2. Combo offer of SAMSUNG MOBILE PHONE + PHILIPS HOME THEATRE + FUJIFILM DIGITALCAMERA with all accessories.

Complaint: I have received only the phone. There is no further news about the Camera and Home Theater. I called up Dilip, the senior marketing advisor from ITBC who had handled this order. But this person received my call only once and after coming to know the reason of my call, he simply disconnected the call. He is not taking my calls anymore. When I called up the customer care, they are playing a different game by telling that there isno such offer.

I once got reply from response@indiatodaybookclub.com that I have to claim my gifts from http://bookstoday.in/promos.htm. But this site shows that it is down for maintenence and that I have to login after 3 days. This condition is not changed for the past 10 days.

I have written several emails to all the available IDs: order@indiatodaybookclub.com, feedback@indiatodaybookclub.com, response@indiatodaybookclub.com, indiatodaybookclub@in.com and sales@offers.indiatodaybookclub.com. I have directly tried calling these people over phone and sent several SMSs to them to convey my concerns. But there seems to be no response of any kind from these people.

I need guidance as to how to proceed. There has to be some limit to the freedom with which these people have made it a habit to very conveniently cheat people and just escape.

Complainant's Goal: Either fulfil the commitment or refund my money back

Even after so many days of complaining,
even after patiently sending them more than 150 reminder and follow up mails,
even after giving them all the proofs of their commitment,
even after giving them the option of refunding my money if they cannot honor the commitment,
even after giving them stern warnings of further action,
they seem to be so shameless, remorseless and further deceitful by trying to act innocent. Each time a new person is replying to my reminder mails and advising me how to accept their worthless gifts.

It seems they are used to such kind of lowly living that now they have made it a habit to make such a worthless living by accepting all kinds of spitting from the customers whom they cheat.

It has been no action from them inspite of mails being sent to all the available email IDs and to people who seem to matter.

Following is the sample mail that I have written to them:
"It surprises me that you are so resilient to the brickbats of the cheated clients and shamelessly continue your fraud business.

Dont you ever feel remorse about this point that you are eating out of the cheated money. Are you so lowly creatures that you have to resort to this kind of method to earn your livelihood? Shame on you guys.

The money that you have robbed from me is my hard earned money. Not cheating money like that your yours. I WANT MY HARD-EARNED MONEY BACK."

ITBC is such a worst organization that nothing can shake it from its shamelessness.

It represents the height of exceptional shamelessness inspite of revealing its fraudulent activities and the string of cheatings.
