We travel frequently through Kolkata airport and our experience of pre paid taxi booth run by Taxi Association at Kolkata airport is awful. When somebody gives a Rs 500 note for a fare of say 260 those unscrupulous fellows would return only Rs 40 with the slip as if by mistake. Very often our attention is diverted at that time and generally we check the slip rather than the money returned. This happens with most passengers daily and passengers are robbed of hundreds of bucks everyday. As we travel frequently we are now aware of their trick. We want police to run prepaid booth rather than any association or union. In Delhi airport pre paid booths are run by Delhi Police and we find it better managed and we do not have to face hassles like refusal by the taxi driver or we do not have to search the assigned vehicle frantically as is often the experience at Kolkata airport.

Complainant's Goal: Replace pre paid taxi booth run by taxi association with those run by police

Prepaid taxi stand at Kolkata airport is a horror. It appears that local goons runs the prepaid taxi stand .Drivers choose the route and passengers if if the route is not convenient to them they refuse to carry the passenger and the passengers runs pillars to post .This is horrible and worse than sealdah station prepaid stand.Police should be immediately deployed to handle such type of problem. Being one the biggest airport in India this only cut sorry figures for the state and government. Hope this should immediately taken care of.
