Express Packers and Movers - Harrasment while relocating our goods to Bangalore

Complaint by: Ankita on October 23, 2009, 3:04 pm in Home Furnishings

Before finalizing the Express packers for shifting our goods from Gurgaon, we had requested them that we will need 5-7 days of storage in Bangalore.
These guys promised us additional 10 days of warehousing when we were moving out from Gurgaon to Bangalore as free of charge. However, in the contract note, it was mentioned only for 5 days which we skipped noticing owing to the stress/tensions involoved in shifting.
Since we wanted the additional storage in Bangalore, the Express packers released our goods late from Gurgaon by warehousing them additionally in Gurgaon itself- which was never asked by us. Ideally, the warehousing charges should start 10 days after the day the goods have reached in Bangalore. Because they stored the goods in Gurgaon, it reached us late in Bangalore. BUt now they are charging us for the warehousing from the day the goods reached in Bangalore because the 5 days additional warehousing was done in Gurgaon.

Also, throughout the time when the goods were released from Gurgaon and till they reached Bangalore, we had to follow up with 10 different people without getting a clear understanding as to what the status of the goods were and where they had reached. The Express person in Charge- Vinod Kumar with whom we had done all the formalities, he was not taking any of our calls. More so, the Bangalore folks are also harrassing us and also asking for extra money.
Please help and take as much strict an action which can be taken.

Complainant's Goal: To get the refund of extra amount and 3 people from Express packers to be sacked

It has been close to a week now since I heard from Express Packers; I guess they are still checking on the 'facts' which were provided by me. Speed up guys.

Dear Mr. Ajay,
This forum is for all and sundry to raise their concerns and in this fast moving world I hope you would understand none would come to forums like these just to waste their time without having a genuine concern. Hence your statement that my grievience is not genuine is unjustified. For once, place yourself in my shoes and understand each day of interaction which I had with your people.
Day 1: Oct 2nd: Your people were to reach to us for packing at 8:00 a.m. After 3 -4 calls and reminders, they finally reach at 9:45. Please get this validated from Mr. Vinod in Gurgaon.
Day 2: Oct 4: The byke which we had sent for delivery to Jaipur, does not reach. After multiple follow ups we get to know that the byke is still in Gurgaon. Mr. Vinod may be checked with again on this.
Day 3: Oct 5-9th: Repeated calls and follow ups on luggage and byke; Mr. Vinod and Mr Surinder in Gurgaon refuse to take calls from our known numbers. When called from some other numbers, the call is picked and again some vague/fake information is given.
Day 4: Oct13th: My car is delivered in Bangalore with the wheel alignment gone faulty. Multiple other issues observed in the car for which the delivery guy does not have any answer. He asks us to write our complaint at the back of the delivery note, which he says will be taken care of and someone from Express will call and come to see the issues. None has called up and turned as yet.
Day 6: Oct 18th: I call up Ajith to get the status of the byke. He gives the number of someone in Jaipur saying the byke is delivered. On calling that guy in Jaipur, we get to know that the byke was delivered 5 days back but could not be delivered as the delivery note was misplaced. Can you imagine something like this.
Day 7: Oct 21st, I call up Ajith, reminding him that I will be taking the possession of the goods on 24th, Saturday to which he says he is fine.
Day 8: Oct23rd: Ajith calls me up and reconfirms about taking the delivery on 24th, to which I confirm. He tells about the warehousing charges on which I have a verbal arguement; Ajith disconnects the phone. My husband, Lokesh does the required follow up with him.
Day 9: Oct 24th; The luggage reaches at 9. We are there at 9:10, getting the formailities of enetering the apartement takes 15 mins. 9:30 we are ready for unloading, but your guys refuse to unload until the balance payment is done. After huge debates/arguements and payment of the entire amount, youe guys enter the campus. The unloading starts. As and when few things come in the house, they are found broken. Dining tablem TV Trolley, Washing machine, Dressing table; you name it and eveything is damaged. To top it, around 2 0\' clock (when your guys are supposed to go for some other packing); they stop the unpacking and simple leave. They have unpacked only 20% of the things until then.

You were talking about the facts; here they are mentioned. Please get this verified from your staff and all the people mentioned. I will also like to bring to your notice few more things:
If the transit was to take 7 days, my goods should have reached here by 9th; why did it reach on 13th? Why was this 4 days delays? I had to keep the goods iin ur warehouse because I had gone back to my hometown on 14th for Diwali. If the goods had reached on 9th (As scheduled); I would have happily taken the possession of the same on 10-11th (which were weekends). Also, Mr. Vinod had promised us 10 days of additional warehouring and not 5 (as mentioned in your document). Please get this verified as well.

All I want to say is if you intend to stay in this business for long, please have fair dealings with people. Get better and more professional staff; not like the ones which you currently have who do not even have the manners to speak to their customers. And as is applicable in today\'s world \'Customer is the King\', it actually is and with the kind of dealing you given us; you surely have lost all your prosepctive customers in my organization and I will spead this news like wild fire in my friend circle so that it goes through in their organization as well. Cheating on us on few thousands of Rs. will never do you good.
Regards, Ankita

Dear Ms. Ankita / Mr. Yogesh,

First let us understand that these online forums are useful when you put your genuine grieviences and feedbacks based on facts and figures and not whatever you fancy. Although this is a free medium to share our opinions but users like yourself are dimishing the credibility of the medium. Do you have any documents or records to substantiate your claims... NO!!! Let me know explain to you and everybody else with all the facts... and i have all the facts and documentary proof to proove myself..

Firstly, let me clarify that you had asked for a warehousing of 5 days which we had agreed of providing you without any charges and it is immaterial and entirely our call to store the goods wherever we want, as long as they are safe and are delivered as per the commitment. Even if we have stored the goods at Gurgaon, that is our godown. We have charged you accordingly for 10 days warehousing from 14-24 Oct.

The goods were booked on 2nd Oct 2009. The transit time from Gurgoan to Bangalore is mentioned as 5 days in the Quote and another 5 days as complimentary warehousing. We have charged you from 14th to 24th Oct - 10 days discounting the transit time as 7 days instead of 5 days mentioned in the Quote giving you 2 days grace and Thereby charging you less for 2 days as per the Quote.

Secondly, it has always been us calling you. I had personallly called you on 12th Oct to inform you that your goods have reached Bangalore. On your request that you will require further warehousing and the goods should be delivered on Saturday, 24th Oct, we arranged for the storage of goods. Myself, again called you on 23rd Oct to inform you that the goods will be delivered the next day in the morning. I have the call records to substantiate the facts that you have only called me twice since your goods have been booked at Gurgaon.
Also, you may recall that i had called you at 8 am on the delivery day to inform you that the goods will reach at 9 am but you only reached there at 10 am.

We suggest to please understand that we have some responsibilites towards social medium which is for us all to use judiciously and not as per our fancy and wishful thinking. If all of us start using the internet forum as you, it will diminish the credibility of the medium as we have lost faith in some of our democratic institutions as some people have started using it for their convenience.

We suggest you to go to a consumer forum with your grieviences.
