I’m writing to share my horrible experience with Reliance Broadband. I would advise everyone to never deal with this company.

1) I had tenants in my previous flat who were using a landline instrument with broadband connection of reliance. When they were going to shift to another city, they had their broadband connection cancelled with a termination notice showing that all dues were cleared on August 22,2009.
2) Few days later, I received a call saying that bill of Rs.1426 is due for ACCOUNT NO:100000102547675.
3) September 15,2009 :- Even though our tenants had already paid (our tenants even sent a scanned copy of the termination notice and dues cleared by them) I paid the amount of Rs.1426 because Reliance said their records did not reflect the same and kept calling on an almost hourly basis, and decided to take it up later, as they spoke about a penalty surcharge etc.
3) Sep.25,2009- I made a complaint that I received a bill after the termination notice and this was an improper bill. After no response, I communicated by saying there was no response to our request but there was no effect.
4) Sept.25,2009 I received an email saying that under Service Request ID 109899936, someone would contact me within 7 days and resolve our problem.
5) No response after that, but for months together, I received calls from their customer care executives saying I had to make the payment. In spite of explaining the situation and giving reference no.s of payments made and citing email comm. They were not ready to accept it, just kept parroting “your bill is due, your bill is due”
6) April 15,2010- Almost an year after disconnecting the connection, I received a legal notice from a lawyer saying Rs.4184 is due from your account.
I tried explaining to them on multiple occassions that the broadband connection has been cancelled, all dues paid, and no one is even staying in that flat since my tenant moved out and sent emails to multiple personnel from customer care, who kept saying my complaint would be looked into.
7) Then a few months ago, some lawyer from Delhi called and said, a case has been filed against you for non-payment of dues and it is coming up for hearing tomorrow in the delhi high court, you can either clear pending dues of 5,250 IMMEDIATELY or you can appear in delhi high court tomorrow morning. I never even received a notice!!! finally I had no choice but to pay them 5000 (was given a 250 discount!!!!) that day itself as the only alternative was to go to delhi, spend 10,000-15000 on a flight ticket and pursue the entire matter staying in Delhi, which was obviously not feasible as I am from hyderabad and could not leave my job and everything and rush there. (This whole incident with the sneaky clandestine filing of a case without any notice itself reflects on the sort of company that this is)

Now, they called up 2 weeks ago and said Rs.222 is still pending, I said I have cancelled the connection, they said you still have the landline instrument. I then went to the reliance store, made the payment of 222 and called the service centre to take back the instrument.
After ten minutes of interrogation as to why I wanted to cancel and return the instrument (The representative ended the call saying in the next 10-15 days someone would come to collect the instrument.
9) After repeated follow up, no one came to collect the instrument. Now, a few days ago, again someone called saying that there is some due.I was not able to explain that THERE IS NO DUE.
Now, again I have started receiving calls from Mumbai asking for payment of Rs.282.
I have finally paid this amount also and gotten it resolved only after filing on college alumni website (my college website).

Needless to say, this is an absolutely horrible experience. I have made a payment of Rs.1426 and a payment of Rs.5000 (both after the account had already been fully settled!!! And after their connection has not been used in years.)
Their employees show no interest in taking back the landline instrument even after payment is made for that, but keep calling up with different amounts that are due on a daily basis.
I have heard from others too about horrible experiences with Reliance Broadband/communication and would advise everyone to stay away from these people.
I am posting here only so other’s know not to EVER deal with this horrible company. This is one company where their reputation (bad though it is) does them no justice compared to what the reality is!
