Complaint by: Neeraj Gupta on June 21, 2010, 2:41 pm in Indian Railways

dear sir

This is regarding awareness about train boarding rules of Indian railways.

i bought a ticket from Mumbai to Hazrat Nizamuddin. The date of journey was June 19,2010. The train no 2953 ( august kranti rajdhani express) . The PNR 834-2863951. The ticket was issued under RAC which was confirmed and allotted accomodation in Coach A2 bearth 48.

I did choose baording destination \"Bharuch\"at the time of booking. But due to some reason i boarded the train at Vapi.

as a result i was penalised to amount of 1670/- ( receipt no. K 433539)saying that i am not authorised to baord the train before Bharuch even if i have paid for the entire journey. i was told that boarding before bording station is treated as a ticketless.

I want to know is that right?

if it is right where this rule is defined?

The said train is ISO 9001 certified. where is customer communicatiuon about such rules?

Should not the railway publish such rules on back side of the ticket instead of ads?

waiting for reply.

regds.

First of all you r at a fault, as you have yourself opted for change in boarding point. If in any circumstances you have to board the train prior to the actual boarding point, u could have contacted the TTE before boarding who could have permitted u to travel with minimual charges if any. This could have saved u from penalizing. Please also note that when u change your boarding point, Railway has the right to provide that accommodation to someone else for the portion (Actual station & your boarding point opted). This may also cause a conflict with the passenger alloted that seat for the portion.

This is a facility provided by Railway for our convenience. We should not play around with it.

However, my contention is in such cases Railway should charge us for the actual distance travelled by us.

I support this complaint because TTE behave inside train as their family property. We dont have any system to find out what TTE is doing inside the train. They allways keep the RAC people wating and get bribe from WL people to allocate bith

Neeraj, please let me know the result - It is for practical reasons of convenience the boarding point provision is there. And, if one cannot utilise then it is deficiency in customer service. If one has paid for a full journey, what prevents that person from boarding at a station prior to the boarding station, so long as he notifies the station master at the time of boarding with all proof of identity. You can interact with me on nsrenganathan@hotmail.com on this subject. Railways should show a specific clause if this is not permitted.

Railways has provision of indicating Boarding station (BS) other the originating station (OS), so that other passenger(s) can be accommodated between OS & BS. I believe here passenger is treated as ticket less as passenger is boarding the train while there is NO ROOM.
But again, on a given day how many passengers with waiting list board the train when there is no room, shouldn't they be treated as ticket-less. Here in this particular case Passenger has already paid fare of complete journey. There should be provisions to adjust him and yes many rules are missing on website. I am looking for "Delayed Boarding" or "No Show" rules, and cant find any.

And dude Rules instead of Ads..!!! bingo!!
