Lenovo India - Lenovo Battery Issue

I brought a Lenovo 3000 N100 model on 14/04/2007. within 6 months the battery of the laptop got non-functional, it was in warrenty period so Lenonvo replace it. Now this month (July\'09) the battery has failed agin it has stopped functioning at all. oOn contacting lenovo customer care they say I have to buy new battery.I feel cheated as technically speking the battery is nearly one and half year old. Lenovo is recalling it batteries but not of this model.
I am not even using this laptop frequently as I have another from my office whcih i am using for last 4 years.
Can you please help me in this regards.
