Dear Sirs,

We are from Tiruchy Saraswati Vidhyalayam in BHEL Township, Tiruchy, 620014. We travelled from Tiruchy to Mysore and back as a group of about 45 members. On 30th April, 2015, we travelled by S10 of the TPJ-MY section of train 16231 and on 3 May 2015, Sunday, S4 of MY-TPJ section of train 16232. We all had reservation confirmed in the onward and return journeys, having secured the booking months back.

COMPLAINT 1: The complaint is on the unclean condition of the compartment at the boarding Junction itself. There was no water in onward trip by train 116231. On a complaint to the platform (platform no.2) official, one boy in dark blue uniform was sent; he tried to connect the hose from the water main to fill the tank but gave up saying the flushing valve in the toilet got stuck up and the water is draining off. Also, the boy came so late that the train moved off before he could do any trouble shooting. The toilet flush valves are too stiff and it is time they are serviced or replaced. SUGGESTION: The toilet devices like valves are to be serviced or replaced if necessary periodically. In junctions like Tiruchirappalli, the toilets must be inspected as a routine and not wait for the passengers to complain.

COMPLAINT 2: On the return trip, when we came to the train at the platform no 1 at Mysore railway station. We tried to take in our baggage and tried to occupy the allotted seats corresponding to the berths reserved. To our surprise, we found that the compartment was crowded already with unreserved ticket holders. Two of us, that is, my wife and me, managed to push ourselves into the cubicle where our seats 49 and 50 were located. We had to ask the persons sitting there as unauthorized, to vacate. One of the persons was a lady in the family way and all in her group of four were open ticket persons travelling up to Bangalore, a full two hour travel. We had to give the necessary comfort of a safe accommodation for her sake, asking our group persons to stand in the gangway. She was also feeling awkward out of self pity and was crying to herself! Can we not avoid this?
SUGGESTION:Why can't Railways issue reserved seat numbers in MY-SBC sectors on the spot and avoid this situation.

Complaint 3: Train journey nowadays are already notorious as we see in Newspaper reports about rat-biting of sleeping persons in sleeper compartments. We had seen the origin of such a situation. Our compartment's one side lights were not lighting. This included the toilet lights on that side. The other side toilet was stinking as there was no water. There was no one in the Railways to approach near the compartment.
SUGGESTION: The lighting, fans and toilets must be inspected as a routine in every junction and not wait for the passengers to complain. Suck checking may be counter-signed by a few passengers in the report book to be carried by the inspecting and cleaning person from railways.

COMPLAINT 4: The next is the TTE: His responsibility as understood from him, is for 4 compartments; while entering the compartment (S4) itself he was in an irritant mood and was shouting at the passengers, saying he did not have enough time as he had 4 compartments, all the allocation to RAC passengers had to be completed and the chart handed to the TTE coming in his place at Hosur. He made such a mess that he allocated passengers to already occupied berths and there was pellmell and chaos resulting in high-pitched battles amongst the passengers. Police had to be called to calm the situation and set right the wrong which has happened partly also to the poor lighting (COMPLAINT 3).
SUGGSETION: Why can't a computer App be developed and given to the TTE's to allocate and automatically send sms to RAC persons as he is checking the tickets and person's id and identifies vacant berths. This will be fool proof and fast; the TTE's can have better moods and can handle more compartments pleasantly.

I hope the authorities will take the necessary steps in all the three matters above and would be thankful for a feedback on the action taken on the acceptance and implementation of the suggestions.
