Complaint by: Vijayaraghavan on January 22, 2010, 10:49 am in Indian Railways

I travelled on 20th January 2010, from Yashwantpur by Gharib Rath (Train # 2736) to Secunderabad along with my mother-in-law and my wife. Our berths were 43, 44 and 46 in the bogie number G-12. Apart from my 78 year old mother-in-law, who had a complete hip replacement 3 months back, two senior citizens, one of whom had his both knees surgically repalced, were sharing the other berths with us. When I noticed that THERE WAS NO WATER EVEN AT THE STARTING STATION YASHWANTPUR, I brought this to the notice of the attendant, who after some time informed me that there was some mechanical problem and he had informed the mechanic on the train to rectify the same. I also wanted to bring this to notice of the TTE; unfortunately none turned up. I went to sleep assuming some corrective action. The next morning, while I could cross over to the other bogie to use the toilet, the three elderly individuals could not attempt this because of their physical problem and also because of the need for a Western type of toilet.
Even if it is a subsidized train for Gharibs, no water in the toilet is a serious deficiency in service. It has defeated the very intention of the government to provide better amenities even to the poor (Gharib) passengers. What would happen if some one had developed loose motions.
The purpose of my complaint would be served if, in future, the authorities and the staff will have concern for the passengers and ensure that the minimum facilities are provided.

Complainant's Goal: I WANT A RESPONSE ABOUT ACTION INITIATED TO AVOID SUCH DEFICIENCIES IN FUTURE
