Hello there,
I am Gurdip Singh from patiala. I am upset with the ticketing process at Patiala railway station. On different stations I saw that the Platform ticket is available at a seperate counter or on the enquiry office but here one has to take the platform ticket from the normal booking counter . Patiala is not a big railway station however at the time of departure of few trains like Intercity which leaves for Delhi in the morining at 8 am approx there is huge rush of the passengers and there are only two counters to serve the purpose appox 25-30 person standing in the queue on each counter to take the ticket . So it gives a fair idea that where passengers have to bet there lives to get the ticket to travel it is almost impossible to get the platform ticket from the same counter.
So to avoid this situation I bought the ticket for 2 for delhi day before but unfortunately the platform ticket cannot be taken in advance . Next mornning on 16th April 2011 I came to station to drop them . When I was coming out from the platform I was stopped by railway officials and was asked to show the platform ticket which I did not had so told the same so I was asked to pay the penalty which I paid after that I went to meet the stataion master and he told me that the platform tickets are available on enquiry office but I informed him to check the notice that was applied outside the enquiry office "Platform tickets are available at the booking office" to which he also got surprised as he is also aware of the sitiation that it is impossible to get the platform ticket from the regular ticket counter. He empthasied with me but that is not enough because the situation would remain same.
So I would like to draw your attention towards it so that a strong action is taken to resolve this concern so that platform ticket is available easily on the railway station and even then if some one is found guilty should be penalised accordingly.
Also I would like to inform you about the behaviour of the railway offical although he was performing his duty but still should be polite when dealing with public. I have no regret that I was charged and penalised for that becuase I was wrong and I accept it but had it been the platform ticket available on a seperate counter or enquiry office I would have never missed to buy it. The example that I can give you to support it is I am aware of the situation so I bought the ticket to travel day before also the vehicles are parked in no parking zone outside the station but I always make a point to park the vehicle in the parking place and happy to pay the parking charges.
Therefore it is humble request to look into this situation and find a permanent solution to this issue.
Thank you.
