The site for online ticket booking irctc.co.in breaks during the time 8:00 - 8:30 i.e. when the tatkal tickets open for booking. No one can really book a ticket online during this time.
Online ticket booking is the only way a middle class/ Common man can book a ticket for his journey. Going to the ticket counter and trying to book a ticket does not help as the Agents are standing in the queue from mignight 12:00, and they are the first to get the Tatkal tickets. Its really surprising that the Tatkal tickets get over within 10 mins of opening the counter.
This way one man who wants to travel urgently to his native place cant really get a ticket. Or else he has to shell out a huge amount of money to the Agents to get a ticket. I have seen in my eyes Agents selling a SL ticket of 450 INR for 3000 INR to the needy people.
I feel on the broader level, the process is very misorganised and even the Railway employees sitting at the counter seem to be with the Agents and they take the requests from the agents in bulk and complete them first.
The facilities which are made to benefit the common man in the journey is only benefitting the Agents and Brokers who look to make quick bucks, taking the advantage of the needy people.
I feel the Respective Authorities need to have a quick look into the matter to bring some discipline into the process and make the amenities reach the targetted audience.
1. Increase the number of Web Servers, Application Server clones.
2. Have some kind of monitoring provisions for the railway employees so that any discrepancy in the ticketting processing can be minimised.
3. Increase frequency of the trains where frequency of travellers is very high.
