Respected Sir,
I along with my collegue Mr Dinesh Jawade was travelling on Train # 11092(Pune to Bharuch) on 7th Feb 12 on Tatkal ticket of 3A class. While asking on id proof during journey i have showd scanned copy of my PAN card which was referred on the ticket. In addition to this I have showed my original election card as well. My collegue Mr Dinesh was also carrying his original PAN card. But TC did not accept any of this proof as valid id proof and i have been charged a fine of Rs 2152 treating it as travel without ticket which is rediculous.
I have some questions in this regard
1. Why scanned copy of my PAN card cant be considered as valid proof? ( As per IT law it should be considered as valid)
2. How scanned copies of e tickets are valid at Indian Railways then?
3. If intention of checking id proof is to establish the id , then why Original Election card cant be treated as valid?

Hi Irfan,
Almost same thing happened to me too...yesterday...I paid 2970/- though I had other originals with me..just simply the TC expected the same id which is been mentioned while booking ...it is really ridiculous and I found one thing the E-ticket doesn't talk anything about this.
1)E-Ticket doesn't talk anything about this that we have to show the same ID as proof in original, we can show any one ID in original.
2)Message which comes to mobile doesn't show any such notes which is again railway's mistake which can't be discussed....as TC says he will just follow the rule what he knows.
3)Even I tried to show the IT Returns (E-returns) which were in my laptop but, he was not ready to see anything just simply tried to grab money from me...later he started asking to pay fine...that too in midnight 1 am...was helpless...and no option so paid whatever he expected...and took the receipt.
