I had a credit card for which Citi bank forcebly asked me to take a health insurance and informed wil send the documents in 7 working days. And i had to be paying Rs.100+ every month (approx). This was the story 1 and half year back. I have not received any documents pertaining tothe insurance from a long time due to which i did not pay the amount without seeing the documents for my assurance. And citi bank has been adding interest to the amount and it has gone upto Rs.4000+ /- now and i have received a legal notice to pay the amount which i believe i am not liable to pay as i have till now not received the documents for the insurance..

Complainant's Goal: I want all amount to be cancelled and the credit card as well as money paid.

Dear Mr. Kumar,

This is with reference to your email dated July 10, 2010 addressed to Grievance Redressal Officer.

Our records indicate that the Suraksha policy has been billed to the card ending 0000.

The Suraksha Insurance is provided to the card members free of cost for the first two months. The Suraksha premium and the transaction handling charge will be debited to your card account and the credit for the same will be given to the card in the same month.

The policy will be cancelled if we receive the request within this trial period.

When we do not receive any request for cancellation, the premium will be debited to the card account in the subsequent months.

We have not received any payment towards the dues in your card for a considerable period of time.

As a consequence, we have closed your card ending 0000.

Suraksha Insurance Policy is a group insurance policy. Hence there is no individual insurance cover note for the same. The statement of account reflecting the debit is the proof of coverage.

Our records indicate that the settlement of Rs.9000.00 in one installment has been offered to you. We have received your payment of Rs.9000.00 and the same has been credited to your card account which will reflect in your next monthly statement.

We have also reversed the balance outstanding amount of Rs. 76676.26 and the same will reflect in your next monthly statement.

To date there is nil outstanding in your card account.

We thank you for your relationship with us.

Sincerely,

Anjana Makkar
Grievance Redressal Officer
