I purchased Tata Sumo Grande EX in October 2009. The registration Number is UP32CX8002. It is registered under my father's name. I have faced following problems-:

1. We were informed that the car will be booked but after delivery when we checked the manual it was written that the car had already arrived at the PDI 4 months earlier.

2. On the day of delivery we were informed that their is some problem in combination switch. It was solved after 4-5 days.

3. The AC vents were not working as the wheel to rotate the vents were faulty. After many visits and bookings it was finally solved.

4. The lever to fold the middle row seat was not their. Again I had to take the car to the workshop. After much time it was solved.

5. The rear tail light was chipped off on the day of delivery. It was changed when the car went for its first servicing.

6. The new combination switch had problem. The wheel to move the headlight beam up and down was not working. So again I had to take it to the workshop.

7. Their is severe vibration in the floor of middle and last row when car reaches 75-80km/hr.

8. ECU cover was not present. For that also the car had to be taken to the workshop.

9. The central locking is also not working properly. The doors lock or unlock on their own.

In other words brand new vehicle was delivered to us with the above mentioned defects.

Now the most shocking problem which beats all the rest. We had gone to Nainital. When we turned the car to enter the hotel there was a strange noise. We checked the wheels but everything seemed fine. While coming down form Nainital we smelled burning smell but we continued.

On returning we got it checked at the workshop. They told us that the front Discs are completely damaged. I was shocked to hear this as my car was only 7-8 months old. This is not acceptable. They changed the discs and took the car for a test drive. When they checked the discs again they were also damaged. Then the changed the discs another time.


After this incident I am scared to take it to any long trip because anything can happen. We are literally scared to take chances with this new purchase of ours. It has really been a very big disappointment to all of us.

Edit : I have uploaded a proof to show that my vehicle arrived in the PDI 3 months earlier from the month of booking and also a part of the vehicle has been replaced as you can see in the image the repair order number.

You can see in the image that vehicle arrived in PDI on 28/7 and I got the vehicle on 15/10 This means my vehicle was with the dealer already 3 months earlier.

Complainant's Goal: I want my money back or It should be replaced by Grande MKII or Tata Safari
