BEFORE PASSENGERS ARE REDIRECTED TO BANK FOR MAKING PAYMENT THEY SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO SELECT THE BIRTH THEY PREFER.
I AM OVER SIXTY AND MANY A TIME I WAS ALLOTTED SIDE UPPER BIRTH AND I HAD TO CANCEL THOSE TICKETS DUE TO MY INABILITY TO CLIMB UP TO THAT BIRTH. IN THE PROCESS I HAD TO LOOSE MONEY I PAID TO BANK FOR THE ONLINE TRANSACTION.
IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THE BIRTH TO BE ALLOTTED TO ME WOULD BE THE SIDE UPPER I WOULD NOT HAVE PROCEEDED TO MAKE ONLINE PAYMENT.
LIKE AIRLINES AND BUSES, IRCTC SHOULD PROVIDE SEAT SELECTION FACILITY.

I am also facing this problem.
When i book the ticket for lower berth,but they will allocate side upper.
I strongly support this complaint.
Why should we loose money.
They should provide the future for seat selection/no cancellation charges , if they are not able to provide the selected berth.
