Tata DOCOMO - Intensionally postpaid connection activated instead of prepaid connection

Dear Sir/Madam,
A person called me few months back from Tata Docomo and told me that they will give me a prepaid Tata Docomo connection free of cost. And I was told to send my photo and a copy voter id card via email. And I did the same. But they gave a postpaid sim card which was already activated. When I called them they are not picking up the phone. So I emailed to the Tata Docomo customer care to disconnect the number and I also explained the whole matter. After a few days I received a call from them and they apologized for the whole incident and the said that they are going to disconnecting the connection. But now they are calling me again and telling me that I have an outstanding of Rs. 890/-. I have to pay the money or they will take me to the court.
I just want to know that, what is my fault? I have never asked for a postpaid connection, I told them to disconnect the connection, and now they are threatening me. I belong from a lower middle class family. that Rs. 890 is a lot of amount for me. Why should I pay that money when there is not my fault.
I therefore request you to take actions against them and I also want to get rid of their phone calls and threats.
Please do the needful.
