Airtel Mobile Karnataka - In the dark abt change of landline number

I had this weird experience wherein my landline number was changed when we shifted recently but there was no communication whatsoever from Airtel on this. There was a prompt follow up for delay in payment, the below is an email which I sent to the Nodal officer this morning requesting his intervention,

I received a call from Airtel for following up on the pending payment against my broadband/landline. The agent was asking for payment on a number that I didn’t know (I hadn’t paid for my broadband due to non-support of HDFC and Citibank) and hence told that you are talking to the wrong person. She asked other details about me which seemed to be matching the records at your end. Obviously, I was caught off guard since the new number was news to me!!

While on the call, I tried making payment for the same but was asked to furnish a password. Now this was truly a great experience given that the new process was not known to me. Moreover, the error message said that the password has been sent to a cell number which I have never heard or used!! The agent promptly agreed to get this fixed and logged a complaint, the complaint number is 35811002. I received a password within 4 hours but still I am not able to log in and make the payment.

Though the agent indicated that the change in number has been communicated, till date no one has communicated this to us. Something like this wouldn’t go unnoticed for sure, till date all of my relatives, friends and colleagues believe that the number is what I have given them!!

I don’t know what I should do as a customer in the wake of things. Am I really wanted? I am sure some other department would go ahead and disconnect my broadband crippling my ability to stay connected even though I have made sincere attempts to make the pending payment since Saturday.
