I recently changed cities from pune to bangalore. I have 3 accounts with hdfc from which one was recently closed. I was issued a credit card when i opened first account. The card expired on feb 2011 for which a replacement was sent which unfortunately returned back to the hdfc credit card branch chennai. On querying with the customer service about authorizing my sister to recieve it by hand, I was replied by email that she could on production of an authorization letter and valid id proof. On visiting the bank, she was denied the same and told that the card had been returned to pune. My family currently holds 4 accounts with hdfcbank. My grievance is why should I be replied about that it was possible when even the bank employees have a doubt about it, un-necessarily troubling my sister for the same.I now plan to sue the bank for the same and close all the accounts that my family holds with the bank.
