I would like to post my complaint on the online fyjc 2011 admission process followed which has resulted in my child getting admission into a low priority college. in 2011 online admission for Mumbai and thane region the secondary board had decided to have admission for all college in the region to streamline the admission process and student not having to go pillar to post from one college to another college for admission. They had put a clause wherein the student has to put total 35 college in his priority wise in form and is allowed one betterment option on release of the merit list.the idea was that student do not keep changing college based on their preference and the process becomes never ending and goes for longer period of time. The major lacunae in their process was of releasing the total quota of seats in the open category in the staggered manner. To give the approx percentage of seats released in first, second and third merit list is roughly 13%,50% and 37% respectively. This staggered release of the quota of total seats in 1st,2nd and 3rd merit list has resulted in students getting allocated colleges having far lower cutoff marks last year in their first merit list as a result of not all seats of quota or admission process being released in the first merit list. This practice resulted in artifically increasing the cut off marks of all colleges and even many students not even getting allocated to any college. In the second merit list also since all seats were not released the students who had got admission into a college got little improvement upwards but not their eligible college based on the marks obtained due to shrinking of supply of seats by not releasing the entire seats. with only one betterment option allowed these students were out of admission process at the time of release of third merit list. With mor e supply coming in the third list the cut off percentage of all colleges went down and students with relatively low marks who had not got any college allocated in the fir st list got allocated to colleges which were denied to student with higher percentage out of process in second round. This was unfair to these students as in open category the admission process has to strictly adhere to the percentage of marks of candidate or merit and it should not get in any way affected by the procedure followed in the education procedure.Since the board has not released all the seats of open category in the first list or even in the second list the practice of only one betterment option is not fair practice and denies the basic fundamental right of open category student to secure the admission on merit.today these student are frustrated with this illogical system and are running from pillar to post to secure admission in good college either on management seat or offline process or to agents who guarantee the admission with exchange on money. The board has clearly failed in discharging it's duty in the fyjc online 2011admission process by not releasing all the seats available in admission in open category in the first merit list itself. In order to correct it's mistake the board has two options. One is that it cancels the admission given in the third list to students and brings out another merit list where in the student who are out of admission process due to only one betterment option are included. The secon option although tedious but fundamentally right is that board cancels all admission and in one weeks time brings out a merit list with release of all the seats available in online process in one go.This process may look very tedious but the mistake needs to be corrected as this mistake is fundamental in nature and if challenged in court, board will not have any argument to support stagerred release of seat combined with just one betterment option. My son has got 89%and wanted to take admission into either sate college or mithibai college. he could not get anyone of them due to this faulty admission procedure followed.Today I am having to say to him Delong very sorry that beta either you should have scored 92% so that you could have secured admission in first merit list or less marks say 83% so that you would not have got any college allocated in first list and would have got your desired college in 3rd list.I hope what I have explained above explains the story of our online2011fyjc admission and the unfair system and practices followed by our education authorities.
