Dear Sir/ Madam;
I was robbed in Shanghai, China nearly 1 months back. 3-4 people came to me and asked for money and finally they took the vallet, held my hands and took the credit card and swiped a huge amount from it. I immediately came back to hotel and informed to HDFC Credit Card Cusotmer Care center. Next day I also sent them the Card Dispute form. Next day was my return ticket and I came back to India.
I sent the dispute form to bank and it was acknowledged. The money was not claimed by any person for 5-6 days time. After nearly 7 days, I called to customer care center they informed that money has been claimed. Here in India in parallel, I contacted to Bank Ombudsman, Local Police Stations and Cyber Crime Branch. They suggested me to lodge a complaint with Indian Consulate in Shanghai. Therefore, I have also registered a case in Indian Consulate in Shanghai.
Now when ever I call to HDFC Bank, they are not able to provide me any type of contact address, phone number, bank account details of the poeple / firm which has claimed the money.
Now, HDFC Bank is saying that I have to pay this amount. I have a lot of doubts about the role of HDFC Bank in this regard.
- The money was calimed after nearly 6 days of transcation was disputed. Why HDFC Bank didn’t try to stop or hold this transaction, even when it was disputed well in advance?
- The Transaction has happened through HDFC Bank Credit Card; therefore, the money surely might have gone to some Bank account through multiple records. Why Bank doesn’t know the details of the Bank Account and any of the contact address of claimers.
- Bank knew that this transaction is disputed. Then why HDFC bank or its supporting bank didn’t bother to ask for any kind of the supporting document like Bills, their contact addresses with phone numbers, their Photo Id Proof, Credit Card slip with my signature etc from those people during claim?
- They have paid some money to someone and then asking me to pay for it, even if I had disputed it well in advance. Where is Bill or anything? HDFC bank is also not telling its investigation report.
- Why HDFC Bank or its Supporting Bank is involved in business with people who are not authentic people.
- HDFC Bank has not only ignored this matter but also supporting to such kind of illegal and fraud transactions and also the people who have claimed this amount by not disclosing their information.
- Till now there is no update about it from HDFC Bank. If I call the Customer Care Centre, they tell to pay the Money and they don’t know who has claimed this amount and they can not give any information about it.
Therefore, I request you to please look into this matter.
They have sent me the Credit Card bill with the due date of 23rd June 2012. I have decided to take this matter to Consumer Court in Bangalore within a week time, if unresolved. Therefore, I also seek advices from you.
1. Do I need to make the payment before 23rd June, 2012, even if I am taking the matter to Consumer Court or till the matter is under the jurisdiction of court, I need not to pay any money to HDFC Bank?
2. If I win the case, it is fine, but suppose unfortuantely, I loose the case in court, then will the Bank charge the amount with Interest starting from 23rd June 2012?
