Complaint by: pradeepk63 on September 10, 2012, 3:50 pm in Insurance All

I had opted for Jeevan Anand with critical illness rider & premium wavier benefit policy (Policy No. 126009477)of Life Insurance Corporation of India, after going through its benefits in particular the “critical illness Rider” as explained to me by the LIC agent Shri Rajiv Bali. Having opted the policy, LIC agent Mr. Bali had initially collected from me a cheque for Rs. 5000/- as partial payment towards the policy (made vide SBI Cheque No. 878600 dated 09.09.2011 which was cleared from my Account on 15.10.2011). Thereafter, after completing the medical check-up which was essential for availing CI Rider benefits, the LIC agent collected another cheque for the policy amounting to Rs. 14,478/- (made vide S.B.I Cheque No. 878602 dated 12.10.2011 which was cleared from my Account on 17.10.2011). Now it is almost to one year time, I have still not received the policy documents. The LIC agent Mr. Bali kept constantly persuing the matter but to vain as the LIC Branch at Karol Bagh (Unit 11K), New Delhi-05, replied him stereotype that their system updation is in progress and the Policy with Rider benefit will become effective once the computer system is updated. Finding tough he informed me that I should move the concerned authorities for intervention in the matter. I then wrote twice to the LIC in this regard but nothing was done by the Branch. I then along with my husband visited the Karol Bagh Branch in the first week of July 2012 and met the Branch Manager Mr. Jha. He assured that the issue would be settled by the very next day. But I am surprised that the Branch has shown its irresponsibility by not pursuing the matter. In the mean time as the premium for the above said Policy was due in the month of April, I has again issued a Cheque in f/o LIC to my LIC agent Mr. Bali but he informed me that since the benefit of CI Rider has not be included and the issue is pending, the premium amount could not be paid to the LIC.
If LIC of India is unable to settle the aforesaid matter, I earnestly request that the proposal of the above Policy in favor of me be cancelled and I may be refunded back the entire amount paid to the LIC along with the existing rate of interest for the entire period of lapse on the part of the LIC. Otherwise if LIC is able to settle the issue immediately with addition of CI Rider to the Policy, in that case, the premium amount which was due for payment may be effected without charge of penalty as it is the concerned branch of LIC of India which is at fault in the entire issue.
Expecting a immediate response and solution to the issue which has been kept ignored by the LIC Branch Karol Bagh for almost an year.
Regards
