I came from Guwahati, Assam to New Delhi after I was assured of a BPO job. Companies such as Recon International and I expert International lure innocent new job seekers. At first, I, and many others like me, find their numbers on the Internet and call them. We are assured that there is no payment for the job. We are made to wait for 3-4hrs and then the interview begins. No one is rejected. They take 500rs to open a salary account in HDFC bank. Then they call for training on another day, usually Saturday or Sunday, where a trainer(an elderly man with a big tummy and a dark complexion) will speak about jobs for 1-2 hrs and ask questions. You will be asked to pay 1000rs for the "training" and given an address where you have to go on the following Monday. That address leads to a job consultancy firm such as Dynamic Synergy Pvt. Ltd., Opposite main bus stand, Mahavir Chowk, Gurgaon or Phoenix Consultants, D-472, Ramphal Chowk, Dwarka Sector 7, New Delhi. There they will tell you that your CV has been forwarded to the company and you will be getting their call soon, which you never will. Or you will be given an address of a company where you have to go with your resume, where few people are accepted. Many who apply for a BPO job in this manner, are like me, from outside of Delhi originally, and hence lack the representation. A foreigner went to the police where she was laughed at for complaining a loss of 1500, but the loss of time and energy, the spread of false hope, lies to exploit for monetary gain cannot be quantified.
If the word gets out, you will find many young people who have fallen prey to this system, and many will in the future. I hope someone takes some action. Maybe few people going undercover to few of such companies(who offer BPO jobs and has "International" at the end of their name) and comparing their promises before getting the money and how well they follow through afterwards. Such hunger for money was unimaginable to me. But luring the new workforce who are innocent enough to fall for these frauds. They may show 1 person getting a job out of 20, but the promise is made to all. The police laugh at us if we try to complain. What are people like us supposed to do?
