I met with an accident on 8th Oct 2011 that left me paralyzed below the chest and wheelchair bound. Due to prolonged hospitalisation and rehabilitation treatments, I was unable to file my claim immediately. However, I submitted an accident benefit claim to the branch manager of LIC branch 883, Mumbai, under my in force policy no. ********8 on 28th Aug 2012. The claim was submitted under policy conditions at para 10-1, and 10-2(a) of the policy document. On receiving no response from LIC, I again sent a reminder to the branch manager of LIC branch 883, on 6th Nov 2012, always keeping my LIC agent, Ms. Vandana Pajni in Mumbai in copy.
My LIC agent then instructed me to send some documents to process the claim. On 5th Dec 2012, I sent original policy document (policy no. ********8), duly signed survival benefit form and a cancelled check from my bank account to branch manager of LIC branch 883, Mumbai.
After this my LIC agent, Ms. Vandana Pajni, again instructed me to submit further forms and documents. On 4th Jan 2013, I submitted completed forms no. 5233, 5280, 5279 and copy of my medical records and hospital discharge summaries to branch manager of LIC branch 883, Mumbai, and requested him to process my claim at an early date.
Finally, after more than 6 months of sending my first letter I received a letter from LIC Claims department, Mumbai divisional office 1 (MDOI/Claims/DJB/883 dated 11th March 2013) asking for further documents. I replied to the Claims manager with required documents attached, on 30th March 2013.
After this, till today there has been no official correspondence from LIC received by me. My LIC agent, Ms. Vandana Pajni, keeps informing me that the claim is being processed and will be cleared "soon". I am told that a LIC officer from a nearby LIC office to my home (in NOIDA, U.P.) is required to visit me to complete some formalities but from more than a month there is yet no sign of him.
This is the true nature of service provided by Life Insurance Corporation of India. Please help and advise me what else I can do to get LIC to honour their commitment and do their job.
