SONY cheating Indian Customers with its Dual free repair policy of DSC T20 Digital Camera
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am surprised by seeing a top company like SONY taking huge benefit of weaker Indian consumer laws in its product call back and free repair policies.
SONY Cybershot Digital camera model number DSC T20 is a popular camera with its sleek design but it has a MANUFACTURING Fault as well, due to that the whole camera stars vibrating when you switch it on. Most funny is, this problem starts when your camera is out of warranty.
TO resolve this problem and a free repair of DSC T20 camera SONY published a notice on its website, informing customers about this problem and free repair period as well. Such notices can be seen on:
ASIA – PACIFIC - http://www.sony-asia.com/support/announcement/265708/product/dsc-t20
SONY USA - http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/news-item.pl?mdl=DSCT20&news_id=269
SONY Australia - http://www.sony.com.au/support/announcement/289903/product/dsc-t20
Etc etc. but there is no such notice on SONY India website at its product page (http://www.sony.co.in/support/product/DSC-T20). Surprised !!!! its all due to Indian consumer protection laws which makes companies like SONY to make their customers suffer from their own mistakes and manufacturing faults.
This is ridiculous we also spent same amount in purchasing DSC T20 then why not a free repair for us and when I enquired about free repair at SONY Customer center they provided me a list of service centers in my home town Lucknow and when I talked to one of them they just refused and said service charges are Rs. 828/- plus parts price extra.
By this complaint I request SONY officials and Indian Government to take atleast some action and do justice with us.
