Engineer NK Goyal working as Sr. Manager Utilities & power plant at a Reputed Textile unit at Neemrana, Alwar, and purchased ZEN ESTILO (RJ13-CA-3375) in September 2009 with MARUTI Insurance from Audi motors Sri ganganagar.
On dated 25/8/2010 I were at jaipur city & at about 8 PM I were driving my car , There was raining before some time & roads were as usual filled of water . Car passed through bumps and got damaged from underside & low oil level came on dash board, as there was full traffic on road so I decided to drive further some distance in search of some safe parking position. I hardly droved 01 KM when car get stopped. I parked the car by manual pushing with the help of my wife &SON to road side. The Next morning I called Maruti Service person from Prem MOTORS jaipur & He informed me that Car engine Has been SEIZED being Its Oil filter got damaged & all the oil got drained through this being oil passes through filter by pump pressure.
Then I Shifted the car with help of Crane to KATARIA AUTO ZONE, JAIPUR. I requested to repair the car under warrantee but they informed this damage did not cover in warrantee. I then contacted to MARUTI Insurance but their Surveyor MR. SUNIL YADAV also denied to give insurance claim.
When I checked my self for ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS & future precautions I surprised to notice that THE LUBE OIL FILTER of this car is situated just in level of engine bottom which is the lowest part of car. Its Level is much lower than bumper bottom & also no safety guard has been provided for filter. When I checked personally in many other cars in my company like Alto , Wagon-R , Hyundai I-10 , Spark , I did not find this type of problem in them.
You are requested to rectify this problem by shifting position of its oil filter & by providing a safety guard for filter being condition of ROADS in India can not be improved.
You are also requested to please compensate my loss being this incident happened because of faulty design (wrong position of oil filter)

yes,,, i also face same kind of problem with the Estilo.. 2 times the Oil filter got damaged & all the engine oil got drained through by pump pressure. due to which, i have to shut down the engine. and without working engine the brakes n Power steering not works properly.. so the difficulty increased..
I support this complaint. Even i also faced the same kind of problem and insurance has been denied, please guide me.

My name is Dev K Nandey and I am working with HCL Technologies want to discuss or need some clarification with Maruti team/representative regarding my problem. First of all I need to brief my problem as on 3 of September 2010 around 9:30PM, I was driving my car (Car No. DL 2C AL 3342, Maruti Swift LXI, purchased on 19 Mar 2010 from Competent Automobiles Co. Ltd.) from my office i.e. Noida while driving with speed of 10 to 15KMPH I have passed a bumpy road with some water logging as there is a rainy season, suddenly I heard a sound that something was hit on lower part of my car so I have stopped the car, pulls the hand break meanwhile my engine was started and then I get down from car and checked from my end as I am not a Automobile professional I have checked only outer body of car and found that because of some hits my front bumper got damaged, so after this incident I start driving and after covering 100m of distance I saw oil pressure indicator start blinking so immediately I stopped the car engine (as I am very much aware that if car oil pressure indicator start blinking stop the car engine immediately ) then after my bad time started for that night, I called up on Maruti on road service(as mentioned on service booklet 011 39891515)for the help but I got to know that this number is not working , so I called on Maruti regional office number which is in Vasant Kunj New Delhi but the person who had picked my phone told me call after 15min but after 20 min when I have called again nobody even picked my phone then I have tried to call Competent and Anytime Maruti also but no luck.
Then it’s already too late around (11:00PM) and I was in Noida expressway service lane so I decided to call my friend then I towed my car with help of his car then on 5th September 2010 placed the car at Competent workshop then after checking they told me that your car oil filter got damaged and need to check by filling the oil again. On 7th September 2010 they called and told me that your engine got seized because of your fault so no insurance claim is there for you and the repairing cost would be around 40K to 50k which needs to be bear by yourself as these problems are also not covered by Maruti warranty.
So my queries are:
1. As I have taken the same precaution given on owner’s manual regarding oil pressure why this severe engine damage has been occurred, that means the indicator has not given the indication at proper time. kindly confirm.
2. As that was a minor accident and all of us are very much aware with Indian road condition why that most important component is given at lowest part of car which causes the engine seized problem, if it’s necessary to put those components at lower level of the car why any proper safety guard is not there? And why no any backup option is there for avoiding these kinds of severe problems i.e. engine seized as it’s a heart of a car.
3. I have checked this problem on internet and found lots of people are having same kinds of problem. Please find few of the links and attachments related to them.

If this is that much severe case where engine got seized why only a small article is there in owner’s manual related to oil pressure light. Why the additional precautionary information is not there likewise this is the lowest part of the engine i.e. 6-8 inches above the ground level and need extra carefulness while driving on the bumpy roads.
4. The main concern to raise this episode is as this is a very common problem so why Maruti has not rectified this problem yet and why Maruti is not giving the warranty for this as there is no fault from my side also my car is only six months old runs only 4285 KM?
The most important part is I had a very worst experience with Maruti at the time of buying the car and service as I thought Maruti is the best in automobile sector but from 3rd September 2010 I am trying to connect the Maruti people but nobody is here to help me out as I put my query to Maruti call centre with Ref Id-8670673662 too. Now I think I had a very big mistake to buy a Maruti car so kindly prove me wrong and help me out from this problem.
So kindly fix this matter as soon as possible as already a week has been over. Also I am facing lots of mental harassment.

I purchased a new Maruti Swift VXI DL 2C AN 4864 on 22nd May, 2011 from Competent Automobile Ltd., Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi.
I got my car first service on 23rd June, 2011 from Competent Automobile Ltd., authorised workshop at 895/c-8, Jain Mandir, Dada Bari, Mehrauli, and New Delhi. (Job Card No. JC11037049).
On 6th September, 2011 while going to office my Car suddenly got jammed at 9.30 AM around Rail Museum, just 500 meters from my house. I immediately called service centre and had to get my car towed down to the Competent Automobile Ltd., Mehrauli, and New Delhi.
The Workshop engineer on preliminary examination detected three defects:
(i) Under Body damage,
(ii) Pump damage
(iii) Bumper damage.
It was shocking how all these defects had crept in?
Further to my shock after a long wait of eight days by service centre, I was informed that the Car’s Engine is ceased. On 14th September 2011, they told me that your engine got ceased because of your fault so no insurance claim is there for you and the repairing cost would be around 40K to 50k which needs to be bear by yourself as these problems are also not covered by Maruti warranty.
I wanted to know if there is technical fault in manufacturing, as oil blinker doesn’t respond on time and why the engine pump is just 6 to 7 inches above the ground level and what quality of engine pump is made of, how it can be damaged so easily? What the recovery measures does your company follow?
Who is responsible for all these? The car has got three years warranty period. Why should I bear the expenses on account of mechanical or technical defect in the Car.?
